How to estimate fuel costs
Enter the journey distance, your vehicle's fuel economy and the price you pay for each litre. Select round trip if you expect to drive the same distance back. The estimate multiplies fuel required by the price per litre and uses the selected economy unit to convert distance into litres.
Fuel cost formula
For L/100 km, fuel used = distance in kilometres × consumption ÷ 100. For km/L, fuel used = distance in kilometres ÷ kilometres per litre. For US mpg, the tool converts miles per gallon to litres using 1 US gallon = 3.78541 litres.
What affects the result?
Actual fuel use varies with traffic, speed, weather, vehicle load, tyre pressure and driving style. This calculator is a planning estimate, not a guarantee of real-world consumption. Enter the current price and the fuel-economy figure that best reflects your vehicle.
